Up for sale, a 1940's Regal-made vintage archtop acoustic guitar in excellent condition. Crafted in Chicago and crack-free, this archtop has received the maintenance due an instrument pushing 80, with a recent professional neck reset. 100% original aside from the new floating ebony bridge, this Regal is a visual stunner with a warm two-tone nitro lacquer Sunburst finish and swirled tortoise pickguard.

This Regal boasts a solid pressed spruce top, mahogany back and sides, and a mahogany neck capped with a bound Brazilian rosewood fretboard. The combination of spruce and mahogany yields an articulate voice, balancing a sparkling treble character and midrange forward sweetness with the inherent warmth of mahogany as a tonewood. The bass register is focused and clear, with a snappy, percussive cut and ample projection. The lower bout width measures 15", and the body depth is 3 3/16". Weighing 4lbs 1oz, this vintage Regal has been professionally setup here at Mike and Mikes Guitar Bar with 12-54 phosphor bronze strings and comfortable action.

Significant and substantial V profile, filling out to more of a C carve from the 7th fret and beyond with ample shoulder. Measuring 1.015 deep at the 1st fret and 1.175 at the 9th. The slab Brazilian rosewood fretboard retains the original slender fretwire. The neck is very straight, and the guitar plays easily in all registers, with 14 frets clear of the body. The scale length is a full 25 3/4", and the original bone nut measures 1 3/4" in width. The headstock retains the original Kluson strip tuners with new white buttons and unique original chrome-plated valve covers. " The neck meets the body at the ideal angle thanks to a recent professional reset, and the modern ebony bridge features a compensated saddle for optimal intonation with 2 1/4" string spacing. Notable for not being a laminate top, this solid spruce top is pressed into the arched shape, retaining that arch with consistent curvature and no sinking and sporting oversized bound F holes. The original raised tortoise celluloid pickguard is very clean with almost a tigerstripe appearance, complete with the original bracket. The stock chrome trapeze tailpiece is also intact and in fantastic condition.

The original nitro lacquer Sunburst finish is 100% original with no touchup or overspray, and this crack-free Regal exhibits prominent lacquer checking, pick wear across the strum path, and v. Arious scuffs and nicks on the body as a whole, consistent with decades of careful use. The neck profile shows palm and capo wear through the gloss on the neck profile, primarily behind frets 1-5. The original form fit case is included.

The case lid has some loose stitching and modest staining, but overall this case is in remarkable shape given its construction, retaining original functional latches and stock handle.
