Yamaha LL-5D Acoustic Guitar Made in Taiwan 1989

  
1989 Yamaha LL-5D Acoustic Guitar. Up for sale is my 1989 Yamaha LL-5D handcrafted guitar. Produced in Taiwan for the Japanese Domestic Market, this model is rarely seen outside of Japan.

It is a full sized dreadnought guitar, with a 1 3/4 nut, and a 20 fret neck. As can be seen in the pictures, and is not uncommon is Yamahas produced during this period, there is some fogging/clouding in the finish on the back and sides. I have had this inspected by a luthier who advised that it does not/will not affect the playability or long term stability of the guitar, and is purely aesthetic. I have also included photographs of two marks in the finish, also on the sides. The neck is straight and true, the frets have minimal wear, and the guitar plays beautifully.

It is fitted with a new set of D'Addario Phosphor Bronze Normal tension strings, and comes with its Yamaha hard case. Information of this guitar (in English) is hard to come by, but Yamaha customer service were able to provide the below, along with a scan of the 1989 catalogue page, which I have included with the photos. Factory - Kaohsiung Yamaha Co. Body Type - Yamaha Original.

Scale Length - 650mm (25 9/16). Body Length - 513mm (20 3/16). Total Length - 1046mm (41 3/16).

Body Width - 415mm (16 5/16). Body Depth - 100-125mm (3 15/16" - 4 15/16"). Nut Width - 44mm (1 3/4).

Top Material - Solid Spruce. Bracing - X Brace (Non Scalloped). Back + Side Material - Rosewood. Fingerboard Material - Rosewood + Bound.

Fingerboard Radius - R400mm (15 3/4). Bridge Pins - White ABS with Black Dot. Tuners - Die-cast Gold (TM29G).

Body Binding - Abalone + Cream + Black. Soundhole Inlay - Abalone + Black + White. Strings (factory configuration) - 0.12 - 0.53.
