Here we have a lovely old Aria 9210 made in Japan circa 1978. YES, I have listed it CHEAP. And NO its not because there's anything wrong with it?? I just need to move it on as I have too many guitars and seldom play any of them.
Acoustics need to be played. Rather rare Aria acoustic from late 70's/early 80's.
I've had a few models without the bound neck and headstock and they are nowhere near the build quality of this. It's not spent its life in a case... Which I believe is a massive plus when it comes to acoustics to open up the top. The downside of course is it has picked up a few scrapes along the way.If you are looking for an immaculate collector's piece, this isn't it... But if you want what I would consider a proper players acoustic with a lovely dreadnought tone... Read on In perfectly playable condition.
Action good, (see pics of action at 12th fret) no fretting out etc or buzzing. Nut and saddle have been upgraded to bone, latter being intonated. Original machine heads were the one weakness on this guitar and have been replaced with Grover deluxe ones, much much better but look same from the front.Original tuners are long gone but trust me you wouldn't want them. Neck is a slight V shape at the headstock end but by about the 7th fret it's more like a traditional U shape. If you are not used to V shaped necks it feels a little weird at first but once you get past it feeling different, it actually works really well. It's the first guitar I've ever had with a V shape and it definitely wouldn't put me off another. It's over forty years old so has lots of dinks and blemishes but nothing other than cosmetic.
At some point in its past the bridge has been'shaved'slightly on its front edge (facing towards the headstock). I can only assume this was done to allow for the saddle to be lowered without the vibrating strings catching the bridge. It doesn't look to me that it'shad very much timber removed so the structural integrity of the bridge isn't compromised but better to highlight, I think.
I'm guessing it's had the first 3 or 4 frets replaced at some point as the fret ends are finished slightly differently from the rest and one or two are not perfectly seated at the very ends. Small amount of binding at bottom of body on front, treble side damaged.. Also, I think it's been dropped on lower strap button at some point as you can feel the binding protruding slightly but it's going nowhere. Affects binding for about 2cms and also, I see a slight indentation in the rim in that area, if you catch it in the light just right. I'm being super picky here but I'd rather that than miss something. It's had a piezo fitted at some point however there's no pre-amp. So, whilst a cable can be plugged in the it will need to go into a pre-amp or suitable acoustic amp. Just plugging into an amp will not do this justice.
It would benefit from a new set of strings, although I've not really played this since putting these on year or so ago, they do lose a bit of zing even in a case. Although amazingly all the catches work. It will be posted in this but won't be insured other than whatever basic 24-hour cover has. I'm sure I've made this guitar sound awful but it's really really not.
It'snot pristine but it plays really nice and, in my opinion, has a great dreadnought sound acoustically. I have two other mij Arias (elecords) and they do not have as good an acoustic sound as this... Or play as well to be fair... But the Elecords smaller body suits my needs these days..
Its not being sent for you to try out. Please note that I always send guitars on a next day service as I figure the shorter time in transit the better.
I also dont post guitars if they cant be delivered before the weekend as I see no point it sitting in a depot over the weekend.
