1998 Colin Morison 4/4 Classical Guitar Hand Made In Scotland
Colin Morison is a Scottish guitar maker based in Arbroath. He specialises in crafting exceptional, highly collectible classical guitars. Key points about his work. Craftsmanship: Colin personally handles all aspects of guitar building, including designing and manufacturing rosettes, purfling, varnish application, fret installation, and setup. His expertise ensures the production of high-quality instruments. Sound: Colin's guitars produce a sound reminiscent of renowned Spanish guitars. They offer excellent projection, balance, and separation while retaining warmth and depth. Workshop and Visitors: His workshop is located on the northeast coast of Scotland. Visitors are welcome to explore his craftsmanship first-hand. His builds are inspired by famous Spanish guitars made by people like Herman Hauser and Jose Romanillos. These guitars are known for their beautiful and complex tone. Each guitar Colin makes takes at least 120 hours to build, showing the dedication, care, and attention to detail that goes into each of his instruments.
This lovely little classical was completed in 1998, so one of Colin's earlier works. It has a beautifully rich tone; open and resonant, producing lots of volume with plenty of bite and articulation in the top end. This guitar is in good condition. Plenty of cosmetic signs of enthusiastic play with various dings and scrapes.
There is a small area on the top where the lacquer is a little cloudy, but there are no splits, cracks, or lacquer checking, and no major repairs or modifications - or anything that negatively affects its playability or tone. This guitar has been through our workshop for a fresh set of strings - D'addario Pro Art - Hard Tension - and professional set up to ensure a comfortable playing action and collect intonation.
As always we're open to sensible offers.
