Up for sale, a 2003 Ovation FD-14 Folklore Deluxe deep bowl acoustic electric guitar in near mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hangtag and hardshell case. A very rare USA-made model crafted at Ovation's New Hartford, CT factory, the Folklore Deluxe is one of the more limited and coveted of Ovation's models, and while purportedly originally offered in a sparingly small 50 instrument run, this particular FD-14 was part of a fractional extension of that run, with the model information printed on the label instead of inked, and the xx/50 model run info omitted on the headstock. Inspired by Ovation's early Josh White signature model and its successor the Folklore, the Folklore Deluxe FD-14 acoustic electric guitar features a deep bowl design, solid cedar top, walnut and tortoise purfling, ebony fingerboard, and 12 frets clear of the body. The sound is warm and sweet with a full midrange character, properties often attributed to cedar as a tonewood, with the richer tone of a 12 fret body joint and deep bowl design.

A bright, snappy strummer, the FD-14's top end character and overall tonal profile is praised among Ovation aficionados, and is sure to please players of all stripes. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Ovation is dialed in with fresh 12-53 bronze strings and low action. The mahogany and maple five-ply neck has a slender C profile carve with moderate shoulder and a slender, effortless feel, measuring. 830 deep at the 1st fret, graduating to. On the slab ebony fingerboard, the slender fretwire is flawless, playing cleanly in every register. The nut measures a full 1 3/4 in width, and the headstock features an ebony truss rod cover and gold plated tuners with matching carved ebony buttons. The bridge sits flush with the top and was recently reseated, perfectly stable and viable for decades to come. A fixed EQ on-board preamp powered by a 9v battery feeds directly to the endpin jack. The darker hue of the cedar top is framed by walnut and tortoise purfling, with a matching soundhole rosette comprised of the same materials. Truly near mint and exceedingly well-kept, cosmetic wear is limited to o. Ne small nick on the bass-side shoulder of the neck profile behind the 6th fret and a couple microscopic scuffs central to the bowl on the back.
