This is an Eros semi acoustic bass manufactured in Japan in the late 60's /early 70's Totally unique can not find another one any where!! Made in the Matsumoka factory and identified as such with the off set fretboard markers and the neckplate which states "Steel Adjustable". The bass is closely related to the Aria 5102 which was made in the same factory. Eros was the import name used by the Rosetti company and used on basses and guitars alike. The two pickups have their own volume and tone controls and the 3 way switch on the bottom horn allows separate selection of the pickups or both on together.
The black moulded machine heads also dates the bass to pre'1971. The maple neck is two piece construction which gives the wood excellent stability and the rosewood fretboard and frets show no sign of wear.
This is a fine example of Japanese construction and a totally rare guitar. The closest models I can find to it is an Esquire for sale in Australia on Reverb and the Eros mk 11 bass bears some resemblance.
