This guitar was made by my ex-cousin-in-law, James Hillier, in 1987. He had trained as a luthier in Totnes, England, and in Vermont, USA. A few years later it was damaged by flying glass (as were two other guitars next to it) when I dropped a large piece of toughened glass which exploded when it hit the ground.
The guitars were pebble-dashed but their playability was unaffected. This guitar has a solid Redwood top sliced from a carefully selected seasoned lump, and solid walnut back (book-matched) and sides, also from a selected seasoned lump.
The neck is mahogany and the fretboard, bridge, and headstock cover is high quality ebony. It is a slimline guitar and thus very comfortable to play. It makes it good for all styles folk, jazz, blues etc. It has a sweet sound, mainly because of the quality of the solid woods, and is one-of-a-kind. There is no other like it that I know of.
He only made one like this. Potential buyers are welcome to come and try the guitar. The item "Hillier hand-made acoustic guitar, all solid woods, with pickup" is in sale since Saturday, September 19, 2020. This item is in the category "Musical Instruments\Guitars & Basses\Acoustic Guitars".
