Yairi YW500P Early model made in 1974. Yairi YW500P 1974 early model K. Yairi has a long history among domestic acoustic guitars It is YW500P produced in the 70's by such a long-established acoustic maker K. All-handmade guitars are very well made and still sound beautiful after about 50 years. The specifications were changed in the 70's and the details of the decoration changed, but this product is the so-called early model YW500P.
Yairi's approach to D-28 The body is a single spruce board on the top, and the side back is a laminate rosewood side back with an impressive black ink like a hacaranda. Although it is one theory, there is a theory that Hakalanda is used for the one with the K. Yairi logo inside the sticker inside the sound hole in gold, and the one with the back decorated is Coral Rose.
There are various theories, but it can be said that K. Yairi at that time was able to use abundant materials. It is a mahogany neck with an ebony fretboard 20 frets and a scale of about 648 mm. The neck is V-shaped, making it a deep and comfortable grip. The P of YW500P is like the P of pearl decoration, and pearl decoration is given everywhere such as head logo and purfling.
The finish is reminiscent of Martin's representative model D-28. The YW500P around the early 70's has a dot position on the fingerboard, and the late model has changed to a diamond inlay, and there seems to be a period of 3P back, the specifications change little by little depending on the time, and the sound character also changes drastically. The powerful yet well-balanced sound that brings out the volume firmly is unique to this period. The condition is that the neck is flat. There are minor scratches and dull parts due to use, but there is no problem with playing. There is a cloudiness of the paint on the body back, which is common in Japan Vintage. The binding near the nut is slightly shrunk. The body top is slightly bulging.
The bridge has been re-bonded. There is no problem at present. The string height is about 2.7mm for the 12F6 string and about 2.3mm for the 1st string.
The truss rod is in a state where there is room in both the tightening and loosening directions. The frets are about 80% thick and there are no parts that are partially low. There is no chattering or clogging of sound. The accessory is a non-genuine hard case. Please check the photo for the appearance.
