MASTER D-Jacaranda Made in 1974. Among the many Japanese vintage brands, the legendary brand, Master, which is extremely rare and has a constant fan search. The master is the original brand of Kawase Musical Instruments, a long-established store in Ochanomizu, and its production dates back to the 1960s.

Kawase Musical Instruments has been a favorite professional musician for playing acoustic guitar since the days before the rise of major musical instrument stores. Looking at magazine advertisements at that time, it seems that they were actually used by many professional musicians. This time, the arrival is one of those master brands made in 1974, which was relatively early. The Hakaranda used for SIDE BACK is a surprisingly beautiful Hakaranda with a straight grain, and now it is a gem with extremely luxurious specifications!

Solid spruce TOP, solid hacaranda SIDE BACK, mahogany NECK, ebony fretboard bridge, non-scallop bracing, measured 44mm nut, 645mm scale dreadnought body. The neck width is 44mm when measured, but with a narrow U shape, it looks and feels thinner than the 70's Martin. The specifications of each master guitar are slightly different, but this individual seems to be a custom model made as a high-end model such as the inlay and position mark put in the head, the shuriken inlay of the bridge that the master is good at. After all, the hacaranda used for SIDE BACK is amazing even though Martin in the 1950s is also a deep blue hacaranda!

The sound is a powerful and attacking Hakaranda sound! A valine sound rises, accompanied by a hard sustain and a loud sound. If you strumming with a flat pick, you can enjoy a powerful sound that is a little noisy. The sound is quite bright and has a strong edgy feeling, but the bass sounds like a tight-knit hacaranda, and the sound is heavy and dense. The bright sound with a gorgeous high entwined with the low that is pronounced firmly when you pluck it with your finger is very comfortable, and you can enjoy the transparent and beautiful sound that each sound is wrapped in smooth and glossy overtones. The condition of the instrument is a little scratched, a feeling of use, aged feeling, etc. But there are no cracks, etc. And it is in a fairly good condition as a 70's master!

The body top has a lot of dents, scratches, picking scratches, etc. And SIDE BACK also has some scratches, but most of them are natural scratches, so if you look at it as a vintage item, it looks like this. Is it a little worrisome about the 2 cm crispy linear scratches under the bridge? On the side of the body, there is a tendency for the paint to become cloudy, which is typical of Japan Vintage, but I think that this is also a natural feeling and does not bother me so much. The neck condition is also good and it is almost straight, and the current string height is set to about 2.8 mm on the 6th string side and 2.3 mm on the 1st string side on the 12th fret.

It feels good from the modern string height, but it also feels like a powerful sound with a sense of torque because of this string height. There is almost no room in the saddle, but it seems that the string height can be lowered if only a little more. The frets have decreased overall, and it is about 60% higher than the original, but there is no chatter at present, so I think that fret is not necessary for the time being.

Not only for those who are looking for a master guitar, but also as a single plate of Hakaranda, it is an exceptional gem! Anyway, I'm wondering if you can see such a wonderful Hakaranda in recent years! The case comes with a hard case with the emblem of Kawase musical instrument, so it seems that this is also original.
