Takamine EF300PS electro-acoustic guitar for sale. Very rare limited production model, premium quality Takamine, made in Japan, you're unlikely to come across another. This is a fantastic guitar that has incredible clarity and a real punch that can cut through a band mix both acoustically and plugged in. The main trait of its sound is clarity and balance. It also has a very warm tone for a guitar with such sonic presence. It's like the opposite of a more muddy-sounding older Martin D28, but still has warmth to its tone. I've never had a guitar quite like it to be honest, the closest comparison sound wise is my Guild F47, but the Takamine has more punch, presence and volume. It plays like a dream with great intonation and a nice low action, not too low though so plenty of volume and no fret buzzing. It could likely be setup lower but I'd keep it as is personally; I'm a fan of having the lowest action possible but recently learned and experienced that it's easy to go too low and guitars work better with action a bit higher than their lowest! I'd say this one is setup just at that magic point.

The neck is typical of the Japanese made Takamines - very comfortable and very supportive in the hand. Nut width is 43mm and it tapers out quite quickly giving nice, comfortable finger space up the fretboard. Made in Japan in Nov 2009. Solid cedar top & Solid Rosewood back.

The Rosewood back and sides have a beautiful swirly grain, much like the holy grail Brazilian rosewood. I'm not sure on the origin of the rosewood used: I very much doubt it's Brazilian and it looks more like Madagascan than Indian. I do know Takamine had an excellent stockpile of fine tonewoods for their premium Japanese made guitars throughout the 1990's and 2000's. Rosewood pegless bridge makes string changes a breeze and prevents string breakages at the anchorage points. Double saddles for better intonation and easier, more accurate set up tweaks in the years down the line.

The CT-4B II model installed here is a professional level pre amp that has a 3-band EQ & volume sliders and an excellent built in tuner. 3-screw fixed chrome end pin jack. Takamine/Gotoh Dual Channel truss rod. Gotoh made (Japan) premium tuner machine heads, at least as good as Grovers.

Beautiful and unusual inlays on fretboard and soundhole. Condition is very good for a 2009 guitar. It does have a few marks and some pick strumming scuffs.

These scuffs would likely polish out if required. The worst mark is on the lower bout, viewable in the pics. The guitar has not seen much playing time at all so has no fretwear. The nut, bridge and saddles are excellent, again with no wear. They all work perfectly and it sounds excellent plugged directly into an amp or PA.

The preamp is active and powered by a 9V battery, giving a strong signal with plenty of headroom and warmth. It's always been stored inside the house, in its case, in the correct climate so has no cracks or warping. Comes with the original TKL made Takamine fitted hard case. Case is in very good condition but needs one of the catches replacing on one clasp (an easy job with parts readily available as it's a TKL case). Case carries and protects the guitar fine as it is but needs that catch repaired to be perfect.

Cash/Bank Transfer on collection due to the rarity and high value of this guitar. I can box it up in its case inside another large, strong cardboard box for you for no charge but please note I take no responsibility for any loss or damage by the courier.
