One of six all solid wood guitars that I must now pass on to new owners in order to free up space in my house! An extremely fine, rare vintage all solid wood Washburn D-60SW dreadnought (made in week 15 of 1979 - which can be deduced from the serial number) with solid spruce top and solid flamed ovangkol back and sides. In great condition for a 41 year old guitar.
Ovangkol is a high quality tonewood, with a sound similar to rosewood, but with a little more warmth. What makes this guitar very special is that it was made by the renowned Yamaki luthiers (who also made Daions). The tone is outstanding, helped by the aged solid woods. The nut and saddle have both been replaced by high quality custom made hand-carved bone items. The bridge is rosewood, with abalone inlay ebony pins.
They have been professionally repaired with internal cauls and glue (years before I bough the guitar), and have been absolutely stable in the 10 years that I have owned it. You should be able to see the cracks in the photos, but please ask if you need more information. I have not used the Washburn much, only because I have too many guitars, including a very expensive Larrivee. A hard case is included in the sale.Never had a problem, I will package the guitar in its hard case inside a sturdy cardboard box. Top material : Solid gloss spruce. Back and sides : Solid gloss flamed ovangkol. Fretboard Inlay : 4mm pearl dots.
Bridge pins : White bone inlaid with abalone. Tuners: Washburn braned chrome tuners with chrome buttons.
