Rob Armstrong Long Scale (baritone), right-handed acoustic guitar hand made in 1994. Inner label signed by the maker Rob Armstrong with serial number 520/294.
520 equals, I think, 520th guitar made by Rob. Baritone scale length of 26 7/8" 27"? It has quite a big body at about 11.5cm / 4 deep. It is 107cm / 42 1/4 in length. Each of Rob's guitars is unique; no two are the same, although one of the guitars he made for Gordon Giltrap has subsequently been turned into a factory-produced guitar.
Mahogany back, sides, neck and bridge. Spruce soundboard, inlaid Mother of Pearl "dots" in Rosewood fretboard, Rosewood bridge, chrome JL machine heads, Abalone "A" logo on the headstock. Made in Coventry, England, UK. Custom made solid hard case, length is 117cm /46.Item condition: Used but plays perfectly. Has some scuffs, pictured and described below. Rob has made guitars for many people; George Harrison (The Beatles), Alvin Lee (Ten Years After), Bert Jansch (Pentangle), Martin Barre (Jethro Tull), Charlie Whitney (Family, Streetwalkers), Dave Swarbrick (Fairport Convention), Martin Jenkins (Whippersnapper, Dando Shaft) and many more! One that he made for Gordon Giltrap has been copied, become a signature model, and went into mass production. Collection/meet preferred (I'm in north Cornwall, England but sometimes in South Wales, not too far from Cardiff).
Some of the marks shown on the body / front / soundboard (especially where scratchboards sometimes are). In the photo with the Swiss army knife these seem to be below the surface of the matt finish which doesn't really make sense. Another photo shows these scuff marks better.I'd guess these could easily be polished out by a luthier. There is a small dink on the soundboard. Due to these I've graded it as excellent not mint. It is in a very little handled condition.
Needs to be seen really. Viewing is obviously very welcome. Here's a video of someone playing this guitar.
