Takeharu WT-100 Vintage (1978)12 string Guitar made by Kiso Suzuki violin Co

  
This vintage 1978 12 string was hand made by Kiso Suzuki, a collaboration between the celebrated Japanese Guitarist and composer (known especially for his film scores) Takeharu. From which we get the brand. They made guitars only from 1972 -79 and fewer than 170 12 string guitars were made.

He only had Classical and'Folk' guitars made by the world renowned violin makers, Suzuki. This example is very fast to play. See the picks of string over fret height at 2/3rd fret and over the 12th fret.

The tone is very mellow but does not swamp the individual strings, meaning she is expansive without wallowing. The adjustable bridge is so useful, even though I have not had to make any adjustments. The Bridge, as you see from the Pic is mature rosewood along with the fingerboard. The remainder is mahogany, solid pieces as were quality high end instruments of that era.

Takeharu, after playing mainly Martin guitars, both Classical and acoustic folk based the style and shape on Martin, and in this case the 1966 D12-35 12 string. A reflection of their value then and still today if you can find one. THIS ONE WAS SET UP FROM WHEN THE LAST OWNER HAD IT. I HAVE NEVER GIGGED WITH IT BUT RECORDED IN OUR ACADEMY STUDIO.

There are use marks as you would expect from a working instrument of this vintage, but the neck is straight, and looks as if the nut cover has not been off for many years. There is a lacquer crack on the neck/headstock join, but no movement, or signs of breakage or damage to it at anytime. There has I think been a repair to the join on the base of the side where the scrap stud is, but no movement of signs from inside to say what happened.
