And why is that material used? Because its perfect for converting mechanical energy into acoustic energy. That's why many professional guitarists use brass guitar nuts. It has a noticeable improvement on sustain and tone. A huge improvement over the cheap stock plastic nuts supplied with most guitars.

Our flat-bottom nut is hand ground and sanded from solid brass and round-slotted for perfect string placement. All hand-made - no machines. Very attractive brushed surface finish. 3/16" thick, 5/16" tall, 1 3/4 long. Some modern design Taylor guitars use a shorter 1 11/16 nut - just let us know if that's what you need.
