Yamaha FG-500, 1971 Nippon Gakki, hand-made solid top

  
Rare 1971 Yamaha FG-500 solid spruce top with Jacaronda (similar to Brazilian rosewood) back and sides, from their early 70s hand-crafted line. Notes are articulate and defined, with an underlying midrange oomph and a focused low end with a touch of growl when played aggressively. The FG-500 delivers a tone that is distinctly Yamaha. The guitar has been professionally setup with low and comfortable action. The original frets are in fantastic shape. Cosmetically, the finish has two notable areas of finish aging, both a deeper reddish hue on the treble side of the top, and a cloudy strip of finish parallel with the center seam on the back. There is strum wear across the soundhole (through the finish on the bass side edge).

The guitar has the common B string hairline extending between the bridge and pickguard, and while not fully through the top, a couple of cleats have been added to ensure future stability.
